The Debrief: The Federal Aviation Administration Visual Branding

The Mission:

As a lead Visual Communication Specialist for the FAA’s design team, I was tasked with managing branding assignments from concept to completion. The FAA employed a standard branding scope to guide the entire graphic design department. However, I took a few design liberties and created some of my favorite works.

Results:

Report Log: Contrary to common rumors about government service being tedious, operative discovered engagement at FAA to be highly dynamic. Classification: one of the most exciting and career-defining missions to date.

The Debrief: The FAA Visual Branding

The FAA initiated a mission: develop a new, brand-friendly poster for their Wildlife Strike campaign. I didn’t stop at one concept — I deployed two. Both designs were cleared for action and distributed nationwide, raising awareness of the hidden dangers of wildlife strikes across the U.S.

Through my FAA branding missions, I learned invaluable lessons about structure, precision, and standards. But the greatest discovery? Even inside the most rigid guidelines, design doesn’t have to feel confined — the mission is what you make it.
